Garmin rolls out StreetPilot app for the iPhone

Garmin’s bid to make a name for itself in the mobile phone biz by teaming up with Asus was, to say the least, an epic fail. This doesn’t mean though they’ve given up in trying to make a difference in the mobile scene. Case and point, they’ve just released the StreetPilot app for the iPhone.

Garmin StreetPilot

This app provides iPhone users with most of the high-end features available on Garmin’s standalone GPS devices including, but not limited to, lane assist with junction view, free traffic alerts, and speed limit indicators. It certainly wouldn’t be complete if it didn’t come with voice-prompted turn-by-turn navigation as well. StreetPilot is compatible with the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G S and iPhone 4, and iOS versions dating as far back 3.0.

Interested? It’s now readily available at the App Store and is retailing for $39.99. It’s definitely one of the pricier apps we’ve seen to date, but if you’re a Garmin loyalist and don’t want to spend your money on another standalone gadget just for navigation services, then StreetPilot is just the app we’d recommend for you.
