Re-Tales: Deal makers (06/06/11)

A round-up of deals available from mobile retailers online and on the high street

PHONES 4U
The retailer outguns Carphone on the Samsung Galaxy S II by offering it for 26 a month on an O2 deal with 300 minutes and 3,000 texts. Customers paying an additional 4 a month for the same amount of minutes and texts will bag themselves 500MB of monthly data. The HTC Desire HD is available on a Vodafone deal for 30 a month, with 900 minutes and 3,000 texts, while Phones 4U continues to push the white iPhone 4, which is free on an Orange tariff costing 45 a month, with 1,200 minutes, 3,000 texts and 750MB of monthly data and Wi-Fi.

O2
The HTC Desire S Pastel Teal, exclusive to the operator, is free on a 27amonth deal, with 300 minutes and unlimited texts. A data allowance will set the customer back between 3-10 a month, depending on how big they want that allowance to be. The Windows Phone 7 handsets O2 is selling – the HTC Mozart and HD7 – are also heavily being pushed. They both come with 100 minutes, 500 texts and 500MB of data, and are free on contracts costing 21.50 and 27 respectively.

VODAFONE
Business users can get 10 off their line rental for 12 months until June 8, paying 30 a month. The package offers 1,250 minutes to UK mobiles, 3,000 minutes to UK landlines starting 01, 02 and 03, 250 UK texts, 750MB of UK web data and up to 25MB of data a day in selected European countries. Vodafone also continues to promote its ‘Freebees’ offer, which allows prepay customers to double their credit when they top-up. For example, if they top-up by 10 in a calendar month, they will receive a further 10 worth of credit.

GO MOBILE
According to the retailer, the HTC Wildfire is its most popular Android ever and is now free. It can be picked up for 15.32 a month on a deal offering 100 minutes, 100 texts and 500MB of data. Dropping the data allowance for the same monthly line rental will give you unlimited texts. The Nokia 2720 Fold in black is also featured, and comes with 60 cashback when taken out with a 12.82 a month deal on T-Mobile (was 15.32) that includes 100 minutes and 100 texts.

CARPHONE
The BlackBerry PlayBook is available to pre-order for delivery on June 16. The 16GB model costs 399, the 32GB model 479 and the 64GB model 559. Customers can also pre-order accessories for the PlayBook, including a screen protector for 14.99, leather convertible case for 34.99 and a charging stand for 49.99. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S II is available for free on an O2 contract costing 29 a month, which comes with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 100MB of data. Paying an additional 3 a month will secure you 500MB of monthly data.

ORANGE
The Motorola ATRIX is being pushed across the operator’s Panther tariffs. The phone on its own is free for 35 a month, with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of data. For 40 a month the ATRIX can be picked up with either a ‘Work and Play’ kit or ‘Lapdock’ for 40 a month, with 300 additional minutes a month. The LG Optimus Black is also given a nudge on the Panther deals and is free for 30 a month, with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 750MB of data. Orange Care is free for the first month and 6 a month thereafter.
