Sprint, T-Mobile USA Merger Under Consideration

Rumbling on the net waves currently have it that Deutche Telekom the owners of T-Mobile USA is considering selling T-Mobile USA to Sprint and would require a large percentage of the merged company if the deal was to go ahead.

According to an article over on Phone Dog by way of Phone Scoop, Bloomberg is reporting that according to “people with knowledge of the matter” Deutche Telekom has been in “ongoing talks” with Sprint, but apparently the sources aren’t too sure whether a deal will be struck or not.

Apparently Deutche Telekom is considering all options and is open to selling part or all of T-Mobile USA. Apparently the companies haven’t been able to reach an agreement on the value of T-Mobile USA.

Timotheus Hoettges, the CFO of Deutche Telekom has said via email…” In general, all options are open in the U.S. — the sale of the whole business or of parts.”

No doubt Sprint merging with T-Mobile would be quite a big deal in the US as both carriers have been somewhat struggling of late and if a deal could be finalise it could be beneficial to both sides. But what do our readers think, would a merger between T-Mobile and Sprint be good for customers?
