Kicking off CTIA 2011 coverage this morning, Sprint has officially unveiled its version of the Nexus S Android superphone in the Nexus S 4G. The Nexus S 4G is nearly identical to the GSM version sold on T-Mobile, with the key addition of CDMA and WiMax radios. Specifications are otherwise identical with a curved Gorilla Glass fronted capacitive touch display, stock Android Gingerbread build, 1GHz Hummingbird processor, and built-in NFC hardware. Pricing is set at $199.99 and will launch later this Spring.
A key addition to the Sprint version and to the entire Sprint lineup is the debut of Google Voice integration on Sprint. This means that Sprint customers with a Google Voice account can use their Google Voice account for voicemail in lieu of Sprint’s own voicemail system, while being able to choose either the Google Voice or Sprint phone number to display on Caller ID without having to port the Sprint number, while also having full access to Google Voice features with the Sprint number. The feature will be rolled out later this year, with Sprint demoing the integration this week during CTIA. More information is available at the dedicated portal for the service.
