RIM has announced pricing and availability details for its long-awaited PlayBook tablet. The Wi-Fi version of the tablet will be available starting on April 19th for $499/$599/$699 for the 16/32/64GB versions respectively. Availability has been confirmed through AT&T, Office Depot, RadioShack, Staples, Sprint, Verizon and other selected retailers in North America with pre-orders via Best Buy available now. Sprint is slated to launch a 4G WiMax version of the tablet later this summer.
Specifications for the PlayBook are set at a 3.0 megapixel high-definition forward-facing camera, 5.0 megapixel high-definition rear-facing camera, 1080p HD video playback; HDMI video output, Micro USB and Micro HDMI ports, 7 inch capacitive display at 1024 x 600 resolution, 1GB RAM and 1GHz dual-core processor.
