Samsung Galaxy Pro Unveiled

Samsung has unveiled a new Android handset aimed at the budget-spendin', QWERTY-lovin' crowd.  The device is called the Samsung Galaxy Pro and it packs just enough necessities to make for a serious consideration as an entry-level smartphone among business users.

Taking on a Blackberry-style bar form factor, the handset crams both a small touchscreen display and a four-row QWERY keyboard right on the front panel.  From the photos, the profile is slightly wide with the general design looking very business-like.

Confirmed details of the Samsung Galaxy Pro include a 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 3-megapixel camera module, WiFi (with mobile hotspot support), 3G with HSPA and an 800MHz processor.   The rest of the specs weren't released at the Samsung SEA Forum in Singapore where the phone was announced, but staple features of the manufacturer's Android efforts should be on board, such as Bluetooth, aGPS and microSD card support.  It runs Android 2.2 Froyo, with the usual Samsung customizations, including TouchWiz UI and Samsung Hub.

For now, Three UK is confirmed to be releasing the Samsung Galaxy Pro in British shores.  No word on pricing (which is likely on the low- to mid-end) or release dates, though, both in the UK or in other markets.
