Around 600 resellers attend five nationwide roadshows following MVNA deal signed with Vodafone in January
Gamma Telecom attracted more than 600 of its existing resellers and possible new leads to a roadshow during the first half of February, with the service provider admitting it was “amazed” by the level of interest.
The UK-wide castle-themed roadshows took place at Stirling Castle in Scotland on February 2, Peckforton Castle in Cheshire on February 3, Walton Hall in Warwickshire on February 9 and the Tower of London on February 10. Due to high demand, an extra date was added at the final venue for February 11, attracting over 100 resellers on that day alone.
Each seminar showcased new services from Gamma Telecom. Top of the agenda was the mobile virtual-network aggregator (MVNA) agreement with Vodafone announced last month, scheduled to go live next quarter, which allows its reseller partners to run as Vodafone MVNOs in their own right.
The sessions explained the details behind the deal, including how Gamma Telecom’s partners set pricing, and control branding and customer relationships under the new MVNA contract with the operator. Gamma Telecom said this attracted “a huge amount of interest from resellers”. The company had swapped out its MVNO arrangement with Three for an aggregator deal with Vodafone.
Also mentioned was Horizon, a new hosted service that Gamma Telecom described as offering “greater flexibility and a stronger feature set around inbound, mobile and unified communications”, as well as a move for the company into the data services market, with broadband, ethernet and MPLS services being made available by Gamma Telecom later this year.
Gamma Telecom said it had budgeted for further roadshows for its resellers during the remainder of this year, although these will differ from its recent roadshows as they are likely to be product-specific events.
Gamma Telecom marketing director Richard Bligh said: “Last year was a busy year developing new services, which are now coming to fruition and we’re excited about the opportunities these will create for the channel in 2011. We’ve been amazed at the attendance levels this year and the feedback from those who attended has been very positive.”
David Munro, sales director at Glasgow-based reseller Abica, attended the event at Stirling Castle and commented: “Today’s presentation was fantastic and really upbeat, with a product set unmatched in the industry.”
