Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Playstation Phone First Glimpse

It is surely that time of the year where ‘first glimpses’ aren’t a rarity and that is beacuse the uber popular MWC is on song. The latest revelation from the event (after the HTC Flyer of course) is the much-awaited Sony Ericsson Playstation phone, righteously dubbed the PLAY. And of course, there are no marks for guessing that this rarity of a device runs on the highly adorable Android OS.

To be honest this device has been around for a couple of days now, but we insisted to hanker the details for the speculations could have ruined our soup. Anyway, we can now afford to be a little more precise with the PLAY which features Android 2.0 Gingerbread OS with Timescape UI.

Just to make you feel more assured, the PLAY is indeed the first PlayStation-certified smartphone. It features a side-sliding gaming control with a digital D pad, a couple of analogue touch pads, two shoulder buttons and the four PlayStation icons: circle, cross, square and triangle, which therefore gives you very less opportunity to differentiate between the PSP GO and the PLAY.

Since this isn’t just a smartphone but a highly potent gaming device as well, we are pleased to inform you that the PLAY features a Qualcomm SnapDragon 1Ghz processor with Adreno 205 graphics chip to render 60fps playback 3D mobile gaming.

Honestly speaking its a more of a gamers smartphone than a smartphone admirers gaming device. You’ll get two devices to choose from-Black or White.
