OnPage_Logo.jpg

Onset Technology today officially launched OnPage, a first of its kind smartphone pager and Priority Messaging Application for mobile devices from Apple and RIM. With pagers still in use by physicians, first responders and other business professionals, and with over 450 million smart phones on the market, OnPage eliminates the archaic need to carry two devices for these individuals that require the ability to prioritize messaging beyond email, SMS and phone calls.

In addition, the new service enhances traditional paging with a more intuitive user interface that mimics the collaborative and confirmatory functionality of email, with group messaging, text response and message delivery and read notification. A reliable, hosted service with global coverage on cellular and Wi-Fi networks, users can easily download OnPage directly to their device and start using it immediately without servers or infrastructure maintenance.

ASUS introduces the next-generation G74SX power gaming laptop

ASUS introduces the next generation G74SX power gaming laptop ASUS introduces the next generation G74SX power gaming laptop

ASUS G74SX gaming laptop

ASUS today launches the new G74SX power gaming laptop. Part of the venerable and well-respected Republic of Gamers lineup, the PC features the latest and greatest in gaming technology, like an HD 3D display, new SandyBridge i7 CPU and NVIDIA’s new GTX 560M GPU that has a whopping 3GB of GDDR5 VRAM. It’s upgradable to 16GB of memory and two hard drives, too. The latter gives you the option to configure it in my preferred method – a small high-performance SSD for Windows 7 and apps, and a massive 7200rpm spinning drive for data and game installs. Highly recommended if you want the optimal blend of speed and storage.

Design wise the G74SX looks a lot like the G73 (which we brought with us to Microsoft Preview last month), with a few subtle differences. The keyboard is still inclined at an ergonomic 5 degrees but is laid out more spaciously with tweaks, like a bigger shift key and extra room around the number pad, that hardcore gamers will appreciate. The rear venting system is different, too, and now sports ASUS’ new “Dual Intelligent Fan” technology that independently cools both the CPU and GPU. Finally, the underside of the PC has an “Easy Upgrade Cover” that is designed with repairs and upgrades in mind; just pop it off and get inside.

The G74SX is available for sale starting today at an MSRP of $1799.

Orange UK offers daily 30MB for 3 roaming option for fee weary travelers

OrangeOh Orange UK customers, you lucky dogs, your carrier is giving you a bit of a break as we enter globe-trotting season. No longer are you chained to absurd per-MB roaming charges or unecessary monthly plans. Instead, you can shell out £3-a-day (about $5) for 30MB of data -- which is plenty for checking e-mail and doing some light browsing. If you don't use any data then you don't get charged (sweet!), but go over that limit and you're back to the normal £3.07-per-MB rate (not so sweet). It's a perfect option for the traveler who only spends a week or two abroad at a time, and it closes the gap with fellow UK provider Vodafone, which offers a £2-per-day, 25MB option. Now, if only others (especially our friends here in the US) would offer sensible roaming plans of their own.

Android 2.3 for LG Optimus 3D is Good in UK on October

If phone users would like to have a 3D phone that is cheaper that the rest, then the LG 3D phone could be one of the best considerations to bet; if you are cool with it not being updated early, that is. Most 3D phones these days are running on Gingerbread and the LG Optimus 3D will not be making that change so soon, in fact, UK will be the first market that would have the device updated to Android 2.3.

How bad can it be? Well, UK will be the first one to get the update, while the rest of the world will be having it for a few months after that. It also becomes worse knowing that a new Google Nexus phone will be out soon, sporting an Ice Cream Sandwich, either an Android 2.4 (following the trend with 2.1 clair, 2.2 Froyo, and 2.3 Gingerbread) or an Android 4.0 (a new framework after the Honeycomb 3.0 on tabs). Nevertheless, it’s still worth the buy if other phones get to be too expensive by the time.

Samsung Galaxy SII Leaked in the US for Sprint

It is destiny that the Samsung Galaxy SII will come to the US and that it would be distributed via various US carriers, carrying different names from various carriers. It would be known as the Attain for AT&T, Sprint’s Within, and Function for Verizon. Despite all of them having claim on what to be, “one of the best expected phone sales that would soon hit the market”, Samsung Galaxy Within from Sprint is the first to confirm that it will be out very soon.

How come? There has been a leak that came out, seeing the Galaxy SII being clothed and coated in Sprint fashion. Not only that, there is also a Blurrycam shot that shows the software details of the phone sporting Sprint as its network name. There are also tips that it will come out in Android 2.3.4 and will have full support for GTalk video. It is expected to be out sometime late July or in August, who knows.
